SUSIE GOOD

Sunday, June 12, 2022, 3:00 PM at the Wingham Town Hall Theatre, 274 Josephine St., Wingham, On

Canadian country music began (some say in Wingham) when Wilf Carter picked up his guitar and began to sing in 100

years ago!   Wilf and the singers that followed inspired generations of country music stars, all roads leading to the

performers presenting this show.

BACK STORY

Brian Good from The Good Brothers will walk on stage with 7 Juno Awards and a

lifetime of memories about those who inspired him.  He’s joined by his wife Susie as

they share songs by his pal, Gordon Lightfoot and others.   Marie Bottrell, 8 time Juno

nominee, two time Country Music Association Female Vocalist of the year and

Country Music Hall of Fame Inductee is awash in credentials elevating her to star

status.  Marie will sing songs by Anne Murray and more.  The support team, now in

their 45th year, stars of the CBC’s Tommy Hunter Show and Stompin’ Tom’s show, will

be the 5-piece band, Whiskey Jack.  Their impressive musical chops will be on full

display throughout the show.

All of these artists are Canadian country music royalty, each with hit records and

music awards from their multiple decades long careers.

And, yes, you will hear your favourite songs by Gordon Lightfoot, Anne Murray, Don

Messer, Gordie Tapp, Wilf Carter, Stompin’ Tom Connors,  Tommy Hunter, Al Cherny,

Ian and Sylvia and more.

For Duncan Fremlin, Whiskey Jack’s leader, and the others,  this show — hopefully

the forerunner of more to come across Canada — is far more than a nostalgic trip.

“Having contemporary all stars present this show is a reminder of how universal our

music still is,” he says. “And playing in Wingham, the home of the CKNX Barn-dance,

makes this particularly special for us — and for our audience? We guarantee goose

bumps.”

As the show’s musical director, Fremlin is also a raconteur with a wealth of fun and personal stories to share — some of them are in his recently published book, My Good Times with Stompin’ Tom.
