September 19, 2026 Bark Lake Cultural Developments is proud to announce a very special family event at the Irondale Historic Church. 1019 Elm Street, Irondale ON A Matinee performance by Whiskey Jack You’ll laugh! You’ll Cry! You’ll kiss U.S. Goodbye! Get your whole family together and Turkey Trot over to the Irondale Historic Church on Saturday October 10th for a Celebration of a rollicking All-Canadian Thanksgiving with Whiskey Jack! You’ll hear songs written by Stompin’ Tom Connors, Gordon Lightfoot, Ian Tyson and many more classic Canadian numbers. You’ll sing along with The Hockey Song and Bud The Spud ! There will be songs for kids and songs for people who remember being a kid. For 50 years, Whiskey Jack has been performing their unique brand of Canadian country, folk and roots music throughout North America. In the 1980's, they were featured weekly on CBC TV's Tommy Hunter Show. Stompin’ Tom Connors was a big fan of Whiskey Jack and he invited them to become his band, on the road and in the studio. They were in the recording studio the day Tom introduced his famous line; "if you don't believe your country should come before yourself, you can better serve your country by living somewhere else." Whiskey Jack played with Tom until his death in 2013. But they still embody his brand of Canadian patriotism; proudly independent and deeply committed to our country. (One can just imagine Stompin’ Tom’s response to the 51st State baloney!). Whiskey Jack includes founder and raconteur, Duncan Fremlin on banjo. On guitar (and many other instruments), with 2 Juno nominations, is Douglas John Cameron who has a knack for writing very witty songs. Duncan and Douglas have a repertoire of funny original tunes and a onstage rapport honed over years of entertaining. Douglas was nominated for children’s music he composed and performed for Treehouse TV and Whiskey Jack has an album of children’s music, (available at the the Merch Table). On Saturday before the show, there will be a barbecue and games for the kids. (More details to follow.) You might get serenaded while waiting for your burger or while you have a Canadian Flag painted on your cheek! The church will be decorated to the rafters with fall colours. There will be a bake sale featuring those Canuck favourites - Butter Tarts and Nanaimo Bars. Come early and enjoy! The events begin at 1 PM and the Concert starts at 2 PM. Admission is by donation with the proceeds going to keep the doors open at your Irondale Historic Church. (Suggested donation 20$ for adults, 10$ for teenagers, and kids under 12 free.)
