Our Stompin' Tom Show tour is in it's 10th year. It's never been sold as a “bluegrass” show. After much thought and executive meetings at Whiskey Jack head office, that will change immediately.
Starting today, this show will now be billed as an all Canadian bluegrass show presented by one of Canada's top bluegrass bands, Whiskey Jack. We honour Stompin' Tom's legacy by singing his songs in a style he loved.
Case in point:
Our PEI born fiddler (Tom's favourite) and multi-instrumentalist, Billy MacInnis, is recognized nationally as one of the top musicians in Canada. Two time Juno nominee Douglas John Cameron has no equal as a bluegrass rhythm guitarist, singer and songwriter. Stompin' Tom and Tommy Hunter recognized Duncan as one of the most successful band leaders, bluegrass vocalists and banjo players in Canada. And on bass is James McEleney, a young man making a name for himself touring and recording with international touring acts from all styles of music.
In early May, Douglas and Duncan will be visiting our friends Sam and Jane on their Zoomer Radio morning show. We'll be playing a bit of music and sharing some of the back story about how our show has evolved over the last 10 years. We've been told this new 2024 show is a cross between “Red Green, Vinyl Cafe and Prairie Home Companion”.
Our May theatre appearances will be in Tweed, Kingston, London and Oshawa. The links for tickets for all of these shows are on this website.
Former Whiskey Jack members, and Stompin' Tom band alumni, Conrad Kipping and Eric Jackson will be guesting with us on a couple of tunes at our Oshawa show on May 16. We're pretty pumped about that.
